RoMa Craft Wunderlust Petit Belicoso

Image
Dear Reader...  The RoMa Craft Tobac has known in the last years as a "secret tip" and it has also arrived in Switzerland... So it is time for a review.... When Skip Martin, the Ma in RoMa Craft, was visiting the German cigar manufacturer and distributor Schuster Zigarren, he got inspired by the warehouse full of tobacco. He included some of the tobacco from the Schuster inventory in the blend of the Wunderlust. The cigars were initially released just on the German market, but because of the great demand now is available in many countries.... Some details: Country of Origin: Nicaragua Factory: Fabrica de Tabacos NicaSueño S.A. Wrapper: Brazilian Mata Fina Binder: Indonesia Besuki Filler: n/a Length: 4 5/8 Ring Gauge: 54 Vitola: Petit Belicoso I had read already a lot about this cigar and am very happy to finally hold it in my hands.... The Brazilian wrapper is rough looking, almost leathery, with some tooth but very fine, and it's a little bit oily but not shiny. The cons...

Alec Bradley Gatekeeper Corona

Image
Dear Reader....  This time I brought you a relatively new line from Alec Bradley, the Gatekeeper. Alec and Bradley Rubin first launched onto the scene in 2018 with the release of a small-batch project known as Blind Faith. And while this cigar was crafted with the mindset of offering a fresh perspective perhaps uncommon from parent brand Alec Bradley, it is the Gatekeeper that drives this concept home.  Gatekeeper is rolled in the Dominican Republic, partnering with Ernesto Perez-Carrillo and his well-established Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. factory. I haven't smoked corona vitola for a long time, so I'm very happy that The Gatekeeper line has this format. The wrapper smells just awesome.... Leather, wood, nutts exactly what you expect from two of the best cigar manufacturer in the world.  After lighting, the first three words that I wrote down on my paper was: "fresh cedar spice, overtoasted bread(not burn but close) and earthiness .These three notes are recognizable from ...

AJ Fernandez Bellas Artes Toro

Image
Dear Reader... First time that I am writing a review about AJ Fernandez, because so far I haven't had much contact with this brand. The Bellas Artes line has convinced me so much that I will definitely try more Aj fernandez cigars in the future. The art, the box, the wrapper — everything here is flawless. When I took the cigar out of the box the smell was very subtle... but after a few minutes it got stronger (very interesting). The smell notes are: Creamy chocolate, cinnamon spices, nuttiness, and some citrus fruit like orange zest or grapefruit. Lovely... First third: Once lit, the Bellas Artes requires no time to warm up as it immediately begins pouring out flavorful smoke. There is a lot of depth to the flavors making it difficult for me to pinpoint any specific ones. There is a central woodsy flavor that is complimented by several different spices and a light caramel. At an inch in, a grape-jelly like flavor arrives in the profile adding a new dimension to the sweetness. The f...

Oliva Serie V Lancero

Image
Dear Reader...  I'm really happy to review the Lancero vitola by Oliva Serie V, because it is my favorite format, and Oliva is an outstanding Cigar Brand. I don't know how is it in your Country but here in Switzerland it is always sold out, and that's why I'm happy that one of my favorite cigar dealer (Manuel's Zürich) reserved me a few pieces. The Habano Sungrown wrapper have a nice dark caramel color, and the veins are light, but easily visible. The cold aromas in the nose are: medium-full mixture of leather, cocoa and herbs. After lighting the initial draw is tight with a dose of cedar that transitions into a cedar and cocoa mixture with a lengthy spicy cocoa and earthy finish. At this moment many would say is a tipical series v, but for me the flavors are much concentrated. After about 20 min I come into the second third, it is medium-full body with toastiness and leather over cocoa and dry woods. Very very enjoyable and the daw and burn are still perfect. Somet...

Corrida Perfecto Gordo Brazil

Image
Dear Readers Today I want to introduce a cigar from the Corrida Limited Edition Perfecto Gordo sampler: The Brazil...  I had these samplers in my humidor for a longer time and now is time to try them. Before we start with the review I wanted to share with you some word's from the Villinger official website : "Let the CORRIDA Brazil carry you away to the land of the samba and pure joie de vivre: Temperamental, exceptional and thrilling. The unmistakable personality of this unique cigar shows off the complexity of Brazilian tobaccos without seeking to dominate. The precious Arapiraca wrapper introduces a subtle but finely spiced sweetness which underpins the notes of cocoa and coffee to perfection. " When I read something like this expect a really good smoke.  After few seconds in my hands I'm so suprised how intense it smells. Wow... Coffee, nuttiness, leather, spices (pepper).... If you close your eyes I'm sure you can tell the country of origin. Typically Brazil....

Joya de Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo Robusto

Image
The last time I find cigar samplers more and more interesting. Not only because I love trying new cigars, but sometimes I get lines they are not available in my country. In the days I bought a Joya de Nicaragua Selección Robusto sampler, and there is a line in it (Antano dark corojo) that I have never smoked .... So it's time for a review. The Joya de Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo was introduced in New Orleans during a popular 2009 trade show. The beautifully constructed Dark Corojo is a brute, jam-packed with big boy tobaccos. The Corojo-seed wrapper is grown in Nicaragua, and has been carefully fermented to achieve its super-dark color and excessively oily sheen. The blend of Nicaraguan long-fillers contains plenty of ligero, aged three years prior to rolling. This cigar is very heavy in the hand when I compare it with the others in the sampler. It smells very intensely of sweet raisins, cocoa and nutts. If I judged the smell it would surely get 9 out of 10 points.  After lighting t...

Alec Bradley Fine and Rare 2012

Image
I was two days ago at one of my favorite cigar dealers (Manuel's Zürich) and I was lucky because he just found some hidden old boxes. It is a dream of every cigar lover...  I took some beautiful cigars with me and I would taste them all, stay tuned for the reviews.... But now back to Alec Bradley Alec Bradley, the maker of the No. 1 cigar of 2011 with its classic Alec Bradley Prensado, had a bold plan for a new type of smoke. Brand owner Alan Rubin and his team called upon experienced rollers at the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras to use 10 leaves of tobacco in one cigar. With the Fine and Rare 2011, the primary cigar that was released was a toro. However, there were some torpedos and perfectos that were also produced in extremely limited quantities. For the 2012 release, production nearly doubled to 2,000 boxes of 10.The Alec Bradley Fine and Rare 2012 is known as the BR1213 blend. The cigar smell really really woody (cedar) with some coffee and some sweetness (I will say like ...
