Joya de Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo Robusto

Image
The last time I find cigar samplers more and more interesting. Not only because I love trying new cigars, but sometimes I get lines they are not available in my country. In the days I bought a Joya de Nicaragua Selección Robusto sampler, and there is a line in it (Antano dark corojo) that I have never smoked .... So it's time for a review. The Joya de Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo was introduced in New Orleans during a popular 2009 trade show. The beautifully constructed Dark Corojo is a brute, jam-packed with big boy tobaccos. The Corojo-seed wrapper is grown in Nicaragua, and has been carefully fermented to achieve its super-dark color and excessively oily sheen. The blend of Nicaraguan long-fillers contains plenty of ligero, aged three years prior to rolling. This cigar is very heavy in the hand when I compare it with the others in the sampler. It smells very intensely of sweet raisins, cocoa and nutts. If I judged the smell it would surely get 9 out of 10 points.  After lighting t...

Alec Bradley Fine and Rare 2012

Image
I was two days ago at one of my favorite cigar dealers (Manuel's Zürich) and I was lucky because he just found some hidden old boxes. It is a dream of every cigar lover...  I took some beautiful cigars with me and I would taste them all, stay tuned for the reviews.... But now back to Alec Bradley Alec Bradley, the maker of the No. 1 cigar of 2011 with its classic Alec Bradley Prensado, had a bold plan for a new type of smoke. Brand owner Alan Rubin and his team called upon experienced rollers at the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras to use 10 leaves of tobacco in one cigar. With the Fine and Rare 2011, the primary cigar that was released was a toro. However, there were some torpedos and perfectos that were also produced in extremely limited quantities. For the 2012 release, production nearly doubled to 2,000 boxes of 10.The Alec Bradley Fine and Rare 2012 is known as the BR1213 blend. The cigar smell really really woody (cedar) with some coffee and some sweetness (I will say like ...

AVO Syncro Nicaragua Toro

Image
Long long time that I didn't smoke an AVO. So I visited a cigar shop today and looked around a bit, and I found a nice stick the AVO Syncro Nicaragua Toro in a beautiful tubo.  When I opened the tubo the first what I noticed was: "the cigar smell like a hot chocolate..." It has convinced me....I have to try it.  I have to say this cigar is extremely box pressed. The ridges are so extreme that even the veins of the wrapper are sharp and popping from the surface – this stick must have been in the mold for quite some time. After lighting, the first notes are very Dominican, with a tangy, funky quality, soon followed by smooth coffee, and some sweetness like honey or maybe some caramel. The texture is very pleasant, having a smooth and delicate feel, making for an enjoyably effortless exhale. Into the second third and the transition is quite stark, onto a sweet caramel, woodiness and light white or red pepper (because of the little floral notes) on the finish, a very distinct...

Cavalier Black II Torpedo

Image
The Cavalier cigars suprised me so much, that I have to review another line of them. This time I take the Black II Torpedo and try it out...  The first thing you notice is the awesome soft box pressed torpedo vitola witch feels very nice in the hand. The wrapper is rough to the touch, even for Mexican San Andrés, though the gold feels nice and smooth. The cold draw is surprisingly sweet with honey, dark chocolate and raisins...It smells really outstanding good. It is time to cut and light the cigar... It starts with a layer of woodiness noted by cedar and oak, and there is also a smooth pepper spiciness but really mild. Perfect draw and after the first paff's the burning is excellent. Into the first third I feel walnuts, toastiness, some cinnamon, earthiness and redwoods. Intresting taste combination but I have to say if you look at the cigars you expect exactly these flavors.(You get tons of smoke in this part) In the second third i have more or less the same tasting profile, but ...

El Septimo Cigars

Image
"Break the Rules and open the seventh sense..." El Septimo is a Swiss luxury cigar brand, with aged (between five and fifteen years) tobaccos from Costa Rica. All cigars are completely organic, with zero preservatives or chemicals added. As you can see a few examples on my picture, El Septimo has many different vitolas (they have already over 40 puros blends) from one of the smallest cigars in the world (Small Impact 2/56) to the big ones (Dark Ruby 6,3/68). The Collections differ on the blends of tobacco leaf, as well as the age of tobacco, but in my opinion the brand leaves nothing to be desired. All oscuro wrappers are grown in a high-altitude proprietary process, giving cigars a silky texture with a rich, deep shade and flavorsome leaf. El hesptimo has four Collections on the market: -The Diamond -The Luxus -The Time to travel  -The Alexandra (This Collection are designed and blended exclusively for Women's. The flavors, ranging from woody & intense with ...

Cavalier White Series Diplomate The brand is owned by Sébastien Decoppet and it is rolled in Honduras. I saw already a lot of cigars but with the 24 carat gold leaf it is one of the most beautiful brands I have ever seen. Actually what impressed me was the knowledge, the passion and the story behind this brand. The cigar has a nice medium brown leather colored wrapper. In the nose I get some dark dryed fruits, woodiness, and sweet tobacco, but the cold draw surprised me with citrus and fresh notes (maybe mint or eucalyptus) the draw is perfect wow I'm excited.... After lighting the first notes: roasted almonds, cream, a sugary sweetness, and that same eucalyptus or maybe "mojito freshness". Very very nice... Throughout the first half, the finish changed to a combination of oak and earth. Raisin joined the smoke grew creamier over time, and the fresh notes goes in the background. Definitely this cigar is a mild-medium bodied experience, with a complex flavor profile. Wrappe...
